Richard Hamrin, baritone, received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degree from the University College of Opera, Stockholm.
Richard started early with theater and dance, especially ballet and jazz at the Performing Art school and Fågelfenix theater school in Gothenburg.
After two years at Vadstena Folkhögskola, with focus on romantic interpretation, he concluded his Bachelor and Mater of Arts degree from the University College of Opera, Stockholm in spring 2016.
At the age of 21 he debuted in the role of Moralés in ”Carmen”, directed by Vincent Bousuard at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, Sweden. During the same season he also appeared as Papageno in ”Der Zauberflöte” both at Ulriksdals Court Theatre ”Confidencen” and in Basel, Switzerland and finally as Delfa in the opera ”Il Giasone” at Drottningholm Court Theater directed by Deda Cristina Colonna.
In 2013 he sang the role of Il Conte Robinsson in ”Il Matrimonio Segreto” at Drottningholm Court Theatre, also directed by Deda Cristina Colonna.
He also sang and entertained at Princess Madeleine´s wedding dinner at Drottningholm Castel.
Engagements for the season 2014/2015 included the newly written opera ”Son of Heaven” written by composer Moto Osada as the role Li Si at Vadstena Academy.
He also sang the role of Alfio in ”Cavalleria Rusticana” with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. As graduation performance Richard sang the title role of Eugen Onegin under the direction of Åsa Melldahl.
At the yearly "Opera exhibition" at the Royal Swedish Opera, Richard finished his studies by performing scenes out of A. Thomas opera Hamlet where he played the principle role with great success.
In the summer of 2017 Richard returned to Vadstena Academy in the newly written opera "The importance of being Earnest" singing the roles of
Lane & Merriman, written by B. Tommy Andersson and William Relton.
Commitment for 2017/2018 included the role as Orlovsky in "Die Fledermaus" at Wermland Opera and as Marullo in Verdis opera "Rigoletto" at Wernigerode Schlossfestspiele in Germany.
During 2018/2019 Richard has held the role as Roderisch der Weert in the opera ”Der Vetter aus Dingsda” and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte at Landestheater Detmold in Germany.
Summer of 2019 included performances as Jean in the famous play "Miss Julie" by A. Strindberg during the Högakusten festival in Sweden directed by Gunilla Röör.
Later in the fall of 2019 Richard sang the role Pirate-Jenny in Kurt Weils and Bertolt Brechts ”The Beggar´s Opera” at Folkoperan in Stockholm.
Spring 2020 Richard made his debut at the Malmö Opera in the role of Pluto in "Orfeus in the underworld" by J.Offenbach
In the autumn of 2020 Richard had world premier of the monologue production of "Klaus Nomi the heart of an alien" at The Royal Opera i Stockholm.
Richard has been rewarded with prizes as Christina Nilsson Scholarship by The Royal Academy of Music, Folkoperans Soloist Award, Stadsbudskårens Culturaward, ”The New Face” prize from TSO and the Drottningholm Court Theater scholarship, both in 2013 as well as 2018.
